I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing now that I had nothing to do!

A few weeks ago I was sitting at my desk without any idea about what I was supposed to be doing. I own a very successful multinational company, so I have a lot of things I should be doing, I just didn’t know what any of them were. I had successfully built a business with processes and procedures that effectively eliminated the need for me to do anything. So what do you do when you have nothing to do?

I am someone who needs to stay busy so I kept myself busy with things that looked more like wasting time than being productive, but again I didn’t know what to do. This went on for a few weeks all the while I was growing more and more frustrated. I didn’t want to just be a very successful multinational company I wanted to be a very very successful multinational company and to make that happen I needed to do things and I knew it, I just didn’t know what those things were.

Like most successful business owners I was reading a lot of books about tactics to grow a business and I wasn’t finding the answer to my question of what to do now. I learned a lot of things from these books and I put my managers on task to carry them out, which didn’t solve my problem, because now they had something to do, but I didn’t. I identified what I call “production jams” which are things that slow down the production or delivery of my product and I found a few jams that I then told my managers about and they went to work solving them, which again didn’t solve my problem because there I was again sitting at my desk with nothing to do.

Then it punched me in the face, the thing I was so desperately trying to avoid was actually the very thing I was supposed to be doing. I needed to be bored or I wouldn’t have found the production jams, I needed the time to read or I wouldn’t have found that people are motivated in different ways and by different things and we as leaders need to be aware of those motivations, I needed the time to talk to members of my team to see that we needed to ask different questions during the interview process in order to find those individuals who align better with our company culture. I needed the time to obsess over marketing to realize every top ten list is skewed to list the companies that have the most to offer affiliates and not who is actually the best. These and more are all things I wouldn’t have done had I been onboarding customers, worrying about accounting or bookkeeping, training new employees, making screencast videos of new processes, answering the phone and website chat, and a hundred other things.

I ended up realizing I am exactly where I need to be, doing exactly what I need to be doing, the reading, studying, thinking, and obsessing was my job now. Most business owners never make it this far, most of them can’t let go of control long enough or have the patience required to sit back and watch people struggle and fail so they too can gain the experience required to run things as they themselves would. Many of them want to let go but don’t know how to create processes and procedures to ensure the successful handoff of key business processes. BUCKET SYSTEM vs. Employee

Sure, you could hire an ordinary employee to help grow your business, but do you really have enough small tasks to fill up 40 hours per week or even 20 hours per week every single week? If not, that employee will be spending downtime on your dime.

TaskBullet has eliminated this problem with what we call the BUCKET SYSTEM. Your remote employee will clock in when you need them and clock out when you don't. (Learn how it works here) With a remote personal assistant, you pay for the hours you need and nothing more. You'll save money on not having to provide employee benefits, office space, office supplies (computer, desk, coffee, etc.); oh, and did I mention downtime?

Your remote personal assistant will come with his or her own supplies, a strong education (TaskBullet virtual assistants have university degrees), and deep professional background. When you hire a virtual sales assistant from TaskBullet, you are also assigned a project manager to ensure that everything runs smoothly. What are you waiting for? Hire a remote personal assistant today and get your time back!
